What is new in the Nonwovens Standard Procedures

February, 2024

The following test methods have been published after minor editorial changes and updates, thus completing the 5-year revision cycle started in 2019: 

• NWSP 001.0.R1 (24): glossary reduced to the most relevant terminology for the nonwovens industry
• NWSP 020.2.R0 (24)
• NWSP 080.2.R0 (24)
• NWSP 110.1.R0 (24)
• NWSP 251.0.R2 (24)
• NWSP 301.0.R0 (24)
• NWSP 302.0.R0 (24)

June, 2023

The four test methods below have been reviewed and underwent some minor editing changes to be best in line with the ISO Directive part 2 (Rules for the structure and drafting of International Standards):

• NWSP 020.4.R0 (23)
• NWSP 070.4.R0 (23)
• NWSP 070.9.R1 (23)
• NWSP 080.7.R0 (23)

May, 2023

The following test methods have been reviewed, and when needed, revised, by the EDANA Tests & Standards WG:

• NWSP 080.6.R0 (23): full revision completed, wording and visuals (graphs and pictures) have been improved.
• NWSP 120.6.R0 (23): minor revision and editing.
• NWSP 160.1.R0 (23): method reviewed; minor editing changes carried out.

December, 2022

The following test methods have been reviewed and revised by the EDANA Tests & Standards WG:

• NWSP 070.5.R1 (22): full revision completed, item 2.3 was added, item 5.3 and calculations have been clarified.
• NWSP 110.4.R1 (22): an alternative wetting principle for wet testing was added.
• NWSP 160.4.R0 (22): method reviewed, minor editing changes carried out.
• NWSP 354.0.R2 (22): the scope of the method was expanded to belted incontinence products, wording and visuals (graphs and pictures) have been improved

August 24, 2022:

The following tests methods have been reviewed and for some, revised:

• NWSP 150.2.R0 (22): minor revision of a safety warning
• NWSP 353.0.R1 (22): method revised, accuracy of the method improved
• NWSP 360.2.R1 (22): method completed and now includes test method for feminine hygiene products as well
• NWSP 404.0.R0 (22): note added about withdrawing 404 at next revision as it will then replaced by NWSP 360.1

January 13, 2021:

The following test methods have been reviewed by the Tests & Standards WG and required little to no edits, they are accurate and up-to-date. The revision date has been updated, the version number remains the same.

Minor edits were brought to the following methods, their revision date has been updated but their version number remains the same:

• NWSP 010.1.R0 (20): position of the basket specified in the procedure
• NWSP 020.1.R0 (20): new picture
• NWSP 070.1.R0 (20): conversion table added
• NWSP 090.5 (20): expression of results improved
• NWSP 100.2.R1 (20): note on tensile tester settings added
• NWSP 110.4.R0 (20): note on tensile tester settings added

In addition, the new test methods developed in the framework of the Stewardship Program, NWSP 360.1.R0 (20), NWSP 360.2.R0 (20) and NWSP 360.3.R0 (20) are now available for members on the EDANA member portal.

About 20 NWSPs are currently under revision.

April 24, 2020:

The following NWSP methods have been reviewed by the Tests & Standards WG in the last months and required little to no edits, they are accurate and up-to-date. The revision date is updated, the version number remains the same.

• NWSP 002.0.R0 (19) has been updated with a new Annex A on the Rules of Engagement for creating and revising NWSP methods

• NWSP 070.7.R2(20) and NWSP 080.10.R2(20) have been updated with new precision data

• NWSP 405.0.R0 (15) and NWSP 406.0.R0 (15) have been archived

• As a result of the review another 12 NWSP methods have been identified that are in need of a revision. As soon as revisions have been approved it will be communicated right here and, in the e-news
  

August 9, 2019:

• NWSP 200 series: The 10 SAP test methods have been revised (these are the basis for revision of ISO 17190)

• NWSP 160.3: One of the linting methods, correction of shaker parameters

• NWSP 080.3/9/10 and 070.3/7/8: permeability and repellence tests, the ambiguities concerning the use of blotter paper has been resolved

• NWSP 070.10 (centrifugal retention test) has been released after complete revision
