  • 2014
    • INDEX™ 14 is held in Geneva, with an innovative programme of special features, including nonwoven tutorials, product presentations, workshops and information sessions.
    • video highlighting the benefits of nonwovens for vehicles is launched at INDEX™ 14.
    • Successful lobbying together with German partners contributes to the European Commission's decision not to impose anti-subsidy tariffs on polyester staple fibres from China, India and Vietnam.
    • Developed and made freely available the first two in a series of infographics aimed to show the positive impact of durable nonwovens. These images showcase the benefits of crop covers and geotextiles.
    • Publication of the "World with Nonwovens" review into 8 areas of durable nonwovens, with a focus on sustainability.
    • EDANA launches a mobile version of its website, available here.
    • Updates the Single Use Medical nonwovens brochure, shared among member companies and made available at the MEDICA exhibition.
    • EDANA holds its first ever nonwovens training course on absorbent hygiene products in Moscow, Russia.
    • EDANA nonwovens statistics issued earlier than ever, and presented at INDEX™ 14.
    • EDANA implements a new data collection for bituminous membrane suppliers, and an analysis between their output and evolution of the sector.
    • FILTREX™ and FILTREX™ Asia conferences are delivered for the global nonwoven filter media industry.
    • Statistical and market analysis is undertaken for the roofing, medical, filtration, superabsorbents, and film applications.
    • Regulatory monitoring is undertaken every 2 weeks, and made available to the entire EDANA membership through its fortnightly eNews.
    • A new EDANA-led test method on incontinence products (Absorption before leakage) testing is submitted to ISO and accepted as a new work item.
  • 2013
    • EDANA launches the 3rd edition of the Flushability Guidance document and labelling Code of Practice.  Documents can be downloaded from Industry Initiatives/Flushability
    • EDANA hosts the first edition of OUTLOOK Asia in Singapore with more than 220 delegates participating, and 10 companies presenting their services and products over the 2 days
    • EDANA hosts dedicated workshop for members regarding the new Biocidal Products Regulation 528/2012
    • First International Nonwovens Symposium in Russia, with 250 delegates from 158 different companies and 26 countries
    • Creation of a Chapter of EDANA for Russia and the CIS region as part of the international Outreach initiative
    • EDANA launches newly designed website
    • EDANA’s Product Stewardship Forum (formerly Supply Chain Forum) is held, focussing on the personal care and medical products supply chains
    • A summary brochure is published providing a history of the last 20 years of EDANA-sponsored Life Cycle Assessments 
    • EDANA launches its ‘Outreach’ programme, designed to provide high-quality events to the nonwovens industry in developing markets across the globe, fulfilling the Association’s remit to expand into and support the harmonisation within growing markets.
    • A list of case studies, detailing examples of the good sustainability practices of EDANA member companies is launched on the EDANA sustainability website (here).
  • 2012
    • EDANA and U.S. partner association INDA launch the 2012-2016 Nonwovens Outlook, the fourth edition of the in-depth information and analysis of global nonwoven production and the growth outlook for the nonwovens industry and its major segments
    • Launch of the ‘Acquisition Before Leakage’ test method for adult incontinence products, to test and assess products under in-use conditions.
    • A new Filtration Training Course is offered to the industry, and will be offered by EDANA as part of its regularly scheduled courses in the future
    • EDANA establishes a new format for single-day symposium on topics of interest to the membership, including: environmental claims, and the use of renewable raw materials, 
    • EDANA hosts a workshop on Consumer Testing Guidelines for Baby Diapers, developing basic guidelines for consumer testing organisation when conducting consumer tests
    • EDANA announces its updated 2012 edition of the ‘Standard Test Methods for the Nonwovens Industry’ together with INDA
    • The 5th edition of Filtrex Europe is held in Cologne
    • 11th edition of OUTLOOK, the conference for the nonwovens personal care product is held in Barcelona, the largest ever, with more than 460 attendees.
    • The new Board Working Group on Product Stewardship launches new protocols for the creation, revision, approval and statistical validation of EDANA test methods.
    • EDANA hosts a workshop for members to define the roles and responsibilities for issue management across the nonwovens and related industries, as a result, a new guide is produced to support the management of issues by the Association and its members
    • The new Automotive Committee is launched with the support and engagement of automotive interiors and components producers 
    • EDANA hosts its first Eurasia Nonwovens Symposium in Istanbul, Turkey, to bring the industry together at the crossroads of Europe and Asia
    • EDANA hosts the first “Hot Topics on Nonwoven Trade & Trends” workshop for member companies to share insights and future trends for the industry
    • The 3rd Middle East and North African Nonwovens Symposium and tabletop exhibition is held in Dubai.
  • 2011
    • EDANA hosts its first workshop with representatives of Russian and CIS industry in St Petersburg, coinciding with its first-ever AGM held outside Western Europe.
    • EDANA hosts the Panel on Waste Management for nonwoven personal care products with participants from the industry and waste management experts on the challenges and solutions
    • EDANA hosts the 2nd FILTREX Asia, in New Delhi, India.
    • INDEX 11 is confirmed as the largest exhibition in its history, with 530 exhibitors and more than 12,600 visitors
    • INDEX Awards are announced, including 2 new categories for sustainability
    • ‘Nonwovens Vision 2020’ is launched, a long-range study on the trends affecting the nonwovens and related industries over the coming decade
    • EDANA launches its newest Sustainability Report, covering the broad nonwovens industry
    • Dates for INDEX 14 announced: 8th - 11th April, 2014 in Geneva
    • EDANA marks its 40th Anniversary
    • The EDANA summary nonwoven terminology is translated and offered as a Mandarin-English glossary
    • EDANA advances its members’ interests regarding a number of new EU Regulations, including REACh registration deadlines,  and the new EU Regulations on Cosmetic Products and Biocidal Products
    • The Product Stewardship Committee is elevated as the Board Working Group on Product Stewardship
    • The 3rd EDANA Sustainability Report is launched at INDEX, together with a compendium website, with information and achievements across the broad nonwovens and related industries

    • EDANA holds its Supply Chain Forum for the Personal Care Products industry
    • EDANA launches Filtrex Asia together with Business Co-ordination House, in New Delhi, India
    • EDANA holds its Board of Governors in Istanbul, and meets with Turkish industry and official representatives
    • EDANA joins the steering committee of HelpNet – the network of national and industry helpdesks for the REACH Regulation, managed by the European Chemicals Agency
    • EDANA launches a Life Cycle Assessment for Baby Wipes, revealing that a single-use product does not necessarily have a worse impact on the environment than a reusable product
    • Establishment of the Product Stewardship Committee
    • Electronic voting first made available to all member companies for voting at the Association’s Annual General Meeting
  • 2009
    • Launch of the Right for Hygiene Website providing information about baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, incontinence products and personal care wet wipes 
    • EDANA representation to Russia, and visits with local industry representatives 
    • Launch of the Code of Practice for the Proper Disposal of Personal Hygiene Wet Wipes, including an on-pack symbol to denote those products that should not be flushed. 
    • EDANA holds the first Technical & Sustainability Forum in Brussels 
    • The second Middle East Nonwovens Summit is held in Dubai, with delegates from 37 countries across the globe

    • EDANA Worldwide Outlook for the Nonwovens Industry 2007-2012 published on 1st Oct. 2008

    • EDANA publishes a voluntary Code of Practice on tampons which is endorsed by the EU Commission and applied throughout Europe in early 2000.
