EDANA is pleased to announce the programme for the seventh edition of OUTLOOK, which will take place for the second time in the Cascais Miragem Hotel in Lisbon-Estoril/Cascais (Portugal) on 17th - 19th September 2008.

Since its launch in 2001, OUTLOOK has gained a reputation for high quality papers and unrivalled opportunities for networking and business development contacts in the whole absorbent hygiene products & wipes supply chain.  Building on the success of its six previous personal care products conferences, EDANA is pleased to announce the programme for its seventh edition of OUTLOOK.

The conference programme features papers from renowned business consultants, top academics and authoritative industry speakers. Topics covered include:
  • Sustainability: Carbon Footprints and LCA, Company approaches to sustainability challenges,  Comparable Footprints as drivers for emissions’ reductions and brand value, Private Label, Managing Risk and Creating value, Measuring economic impacts, Sustainability Benefits, Stakeholders and Stewardship
  • Innovation: Future nonwoven technologies for the hygiene business, Customer driven innovation scouting, Accessing external talent pools in Research and Development
  • Trends: Russian & CIS Personal Care Industry, Moist Wipes, Industry Watch
  • Flushability: INDA / EDANA Flushability Guidelines

Special Keynote Speaker,
Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran, Correspondent, The Economist (USA) will give a thought-provoking talk about Innovation in Times of Globalisation:
  • What is the relative importance of process and incremental improvements compared to clever new technologies in the innovation process?
  • What is the role of intellectual property and in-house research in a world in which the current trend is towards open innovation and collaboration?
  • Can firms measure innovation properly, let alone manage the process of innovation?
  • Which firms do this best—and what have they learned about this process?
  • Can developing giants like China and India, endowed with the intellectual base, domestic markets and natural resources to tackle innovation head-on, really “leapfrog” ahead of the rich world—or are they destined to be “fast followers” or laggards as the conventional economic texts maintain?

The OUTLOOK 2007 conference attracted over 360 players from all parts of the personal care products industry supply chain, making this conference a unique forum, not to be missed.

Estoril/Cascais, the place to be for OUTLOOK 2008, is an attractive location on the Atlantic Ocean. Close to Lisbon airport with good conference facilities and a wide range of restaurants, it is an ideal opportunity for relaxed business networking.  The OUTLOOK Cocktail Party on 18th September will take place in the largest and most important coastal fortress in Portugal, the “Forte de São Julião da Barra" located at Oeiras, the exact point where the River Tagus meets the Atlantic Ocean”.
