EDANA is pleased to issue a Call for papers and to launch the Student grant for the fourth edition of the Nonwovens Research Academy hosted by the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut (STFI) in Chemnitz (Germany) on 9–10 October 2008.

After a very successful edition last year at the University of Leeds, the Academy is back for its fourth consecutive year, getting industry and academia innovating together. The Academy is dedicated to bringing together an interdisciplinary group of academics, students, researchers, scientists and engineers to present and disseminate pre-competitive and post-competitive research studies relevant to the growth of the nonwovens industry in the future.

Call for Papers
EDANA is now launching an invitation to companies, research institutes, universities and individuals to submit abstracts for consideration for the 2008 Academy’s cutting-edge programme. The deadline for the submission of a short abstract in English is 3 January 2008. Papers on topics and trends that can influence the continuing growth of the nonwovens industry are most likely to be chosen.

The main themes of the Nonwovens Research Academy 2008 are:
  • Sustainability
  • Nanotechnology
  • A session including:
  • Raw materials
    • Structure/function
    • Characterisation/Modelling
    • Technology/Process

Student Grant

In order to give talented students the opportunity of participating in the Nonwovens Research Academy, a special EDANA grant is available. Last year EDANA was pleased to announce that 11 MSc and PhD students from 7 different European universities, studying in the field of nonwovens and related areas, had been selected for the R&D student grant. The grants, which cover travel, accommodation, and participation fee in the Nonwovens Research Academy, are open to undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking a dissertation or research degree in the nonwovens or related field. For more detailed information, please see the attached PDF. Students are invited to submit their application before 1 June 2008.

The next opportunity to see the latest nonwovens innovations is at INDEX, the world’s leading nonwovens exhibition, which takes place on 15-18 April 2008 in Geneva (Switzerland).
