Flushability test methods

7 core tests, all of which must be passed in order to support a ‘flushable’ claim for a nonwoven sheet designed, marketed or commonly used in a bathroom setting or for toileting purposes. A copy of the Flushability Guidelines document, labelling Code of Practice and logos, can be downloaded, free of charge, on the Flushability page

The methods are:

  • FG501.R1(18) - Toilet Bowl & Drain-Line Clearance Test
  • FG502.R1(18) - Slosh Box Disintegration Test
  • FG503.R1(18) - Household Pump Test
  • FG504.R1(18) – Settling Test
  • FG505.R1(18) – Aerobic (A) Biodisintegration/(B) Biodegradation Tests
  • FG506.R1(18) – Anaerobic (A) Biodisintegration/ (B) Biodegradation Tests
  • FG507.R1(18) – Municipal Sewage Pump Test
