Nonwovens for Society

EDANA is pleased to announce that the Sustainability & Policy Forum is expanding to include the policy dimension. An essential element in shaping effective sustainable solutions for the nonwovens industry of tomorrow.
Expect a rich programme, featuring sessions addressing stakeholders’ expectations, circular economy topics, green claims, sustainability reporting and corporate due diligence.
It also includes a dedicated advocacy workshop to help you understand what matters at the EU-level for the nonwovens industry. Capping it all off, we will have a visit to the European Commission, which will include an exchange of views about the relevant topics facing our industry today.
It is the opportunity to learn, share, and network on policy and sustainability, and aims to overcome challenges and collectively find opportunities to accelerate the industry’s net-positive impact.

They loved it!
“The Forum was really insightful and achieved great insights in the challenges and the possibilities we face when we talk about sustainability. I gained a lot of insights into how we should move forward and start collaborating. That’s one of the key points I take from today because we cannot do this alone, sustainability is an industry initiative”
Lasse Taidal, R&D Project Manager at Fibertex Personal Care.
“This is an excellent opportunity to be able to see an overview of what’s going on in sustainability, especially when we have these discussions about plastics, their future, and which direction we are going to take as an industry. Very fascinating. I was also able to meet customers, stakeholders, and old colleagues. It’s a great event, I like it a lot"
Tommi Bjornman, President & CEO of Suominen
“The sustainability topic is so important that it’s very good that EDANA is bringing us together and discussing it across the whole value chain.”
Jörg Schöner, Senior Manager Global Business Creation Textile Fibers at Kemira
Location
Residence Palace - Brussels
The Sustainability and Policy Forum will take place in the Residence Palace, in Brussels, right in the heart of the European district.
The Residence Palace was built between 1922–1927 as a luxury Art Deco complex combining apartments and hotel-like amenities. Designed by Michel Polak, it was envisioned as a “small city within a city.” Requisitioned during WWII, it was later bought by the Belgian state in 1947 and repurposed for government offices. Major changes came in the 1960s with the rise of EU institutions, leading to renovations and new extensions. In 1988, parts of the building were demolished to make way for the EU’s Justus Lipsius building, the headquarters of the Council of the European Union, and in 2000, the Belgian government established an International Press Center at the back of the building, welcoming today numerous press conferences and other events.

EDANA Hosts Groundbreaking Sustainability Forum 2024, Showcasing Pathways to a Greener Future for the Nonwovens Industry
This year's forum, themed “Building a Sustainable Future Together,” featured a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and collaborative sessions focused on environmental responsibility, corporate social responsibility, and circular economy innovations within the nonwovens sector. With an agenda that bridged policy and practice, the Forum highlighted the latest advancements and strategies aimed at tackling climate change, reducing waste, and enhancing sustainability practices.
Keynote Highlights
The forum featured two keynote speakers in the world of sustainability. First, Ana Rovzar, Founder of Polygon AR, opened the Forum with a keynote on the accelerating transition to clean energy. In her speech, she discussed the shift from conventional energy investments to renewables, noting a 50% growth in renewables in 2023 alone. “It is accelerating much faster than people think” she remarked, emphasizing that “real progress requires a united front from governments, businesses, and communities to remove regulatory and technological barriers”...
